Message Hi there. I know there are some of you on this forum that really know how to work with electronics very well, so I have a few questions for you.

I have done my fair share of soldering on my Z and other projects over time, however I have never had any real training or anything. I know my soldering of wires gets the job done, but over the years I have grown to like making things as best as possible when I do them...not "just get the job done."

I am about to do a little important soldering of wires on my Z (Extending some wires on a new engine bay harness...the one that runs all through out the engine bay...not the regular $400 one), so i want to make sure I do the best job. I have learned to stagger soldering, but I was just wondering, what the best metrrials to use? Like what type of solder is best to use, what are the best couplers to use (attach two wires together in these couplers, then crimp together, then solder), or no coupler at all, etc, and where to get these items. My gun is just a cheapy Radio shak one that works, but if there are better recommendations for that as well please do fill me in.

Thanks for your time, and I appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Mike
